Dig this. I'm working in a Word doc, hit save, then print, then close - and it asks me if I want to save my changes. I appreciate your concern, but I didn't make any changes.

Drood told us about a particular parking lot by Greenlake that was surprisingly busy during early morning hours. We speculated on reasons: off-hour carpooling, drug transactions, romantic encounters.

Molly beat me to the punch following the last suggestion with: "Park and ride".

That whole Clinton-Monica thing seems rather silly now, doesn't it?

From the I Must Be A Bad Person dept.

I couldn't help but chuckle when I read this story about an exploding cat.

I guess what I find funny is the cartoonish aspect of this story. In cartoons, however, the cat would get up off the ground all blackened from the explosion, dust itself off, and continue to chase the mouse.

And that's what really happened, yeah?

I've got a strange twitch in my left shoulder. It feels like an invisible person is poking me repeatedly.

My mind seems to wander when I'm on the phone. I was on a business call with a contractor here at work, and when I was done I realized that I had put all of my rubber bands on my right wrist.

Bought some Girl Scout cookies (thin mints - they didn't have any samoas) yesterday. Put them out at work today with a sign which reads: "Girl Scout Cookies - Made with Real Girl Scouts".

Is that inappropriate for the workplace?

I was stuck in traffic for an hour yesterday due to a serious accident. The state patrol had closed off all northbound lanes and created a giant parking lot while they cleaned up and investigated the collision. People shut off their cars, got out, smoked, chatted, walked the dog, etc...

All I could think of, though, was how many of these people stuck on the road have to use the restroom?

Captive: The Elizabeth Smart Story

How long until this becomes a TV movie?

I give it three months.

From the I Should Really Get A Smoke Alarm dept.

A large warehouse caught fire just down the street from where I work, and the smell started to penetrate my building. I smelled it, but quite honestly didn't think anything about it until someone came running down the hall saying "there's a fire!" Oh yeah, I shouldn't be smelling smoke, should I?

Like burnt rubber and produce is a normal smell at the office.

We also lost power for about an hour, which made work really, really dull.

It always takes me a few hours to recover from the embarrassment of accidentally giving strangers wrong directions to the freeway, like just now when I told some people in a car they needed to turn south on 4th Avenue, though 4th only goes north at Jackson.

It's even more embarrassing cuz they never asked for directions in the first place.

From the If You Can't Say Anything Nice dept.

I can handle someone making fun of their personality: "I'm a dork/geek/nerd/dweeb/loser". Under the right circumstances, that can be kinda funny.

What I can't stand is someone lamenting their own intelligence. "I'm an idiot/slow/know-nothing/stupid".

It's even worse if you agree with them.

It's one of those days where I'll sit down at my desk and wonder why I'm holding an empty mug. After a half-dozen seconds of confusion, I'll then remember that the best thing to do would be to fill the mug with coffee before retreating back to my desk.
